Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I feel other life exists and our likeness is out in the stars some where. When we discover it will probably be when they want us to or by accident. The benefits would be able to help us grow with the knowledge gained by any information (hopefully for the better) to be able to put aside the ignorance that we are the one and only race in existence. A danger of such discovery would simply be said, "They are smarter and more dangerous than we are."

At this time= no. Not until we have the slightest chance of protecting ourselves from the possible dangers of a violent species.

I run Seti because I want the most computer time possible to sort the spatial anomalies/data incurred to be thoroughly processed in the shortest possible computer time so the data may analyzed a.s.a.p. It's not just E.T. we're looking for, It's also information about the stars, planets, radiation, gravitation etc. I know you need all the information you can get before you jump into the hot fire of the unknown from our kettle of earth. Space exploration cannot really be justified without the knowledge we gain by Seti and others
