Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists has been clever enough to hide so far. This program increases the chance of finding the elusive beings. If we do discover them and they come out of the darkness, they may be able to help with our shortage of world food supplies and current medical problems.

We should transmit a beacon for others to find. Having a sister planet will give the human race a chance to continue in the event of a world catastrophy such as a meteor strike.

Seti@home is a necessary step to the future. Even if nothing is found, future generations will know we tried. The only thing I think can be added is a more generouse tax benefit by allowing computer time to be converted to a monitary value. This may attract even more participants.
