Personal background
I'm from Houston, Texas. I love to travel, though I dont get to do so as often as I'd like. I have a wonderful guy in my life, Trevor, as well as a spoiled rotten cat.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe extraterrestrial life exists. In a universe as large and diverse as we're discovering ours is, how can Earth be the only planet to hold life. Nature has a way of creating, and life can exist in, for us, extreme circumstances. So, what's to say that the same doesnt happen elsewhere. I think it is rather presumptious and narrow-minded to say the Earth is the only planet with life. We just haven't found it yet.
I fully support sending beacons, such as Voyager, as well as radio broadcasts from Earth. If any life that exists out there has the means to travel, then I say we invite them for a Bar B Que and be done with it! I'm not sure how the human race would react to such a visit, if indeed it were to happen, but I have hope in my fellow humans that we'd be hospitable and welcome our visitors with open arms!
As for why I run SETI@home, I started running it after my boyfriend visited me and set it up on my computer. I like the idea of utilizing my resources for a project that has worked very hard to explore the far reaches of the universe.
