| My name is Steven, I am a twenty year old trainee accountant located in south London. My life is nowhere near as interesting as the rest of this community but it's full of joy and dispair usually from the footbal team I support - Crystal Palace FC. For all of you who live in the US you probably now as much about our football league as I do about your Baseball league, but were similar to the New York Yankees (for all the british contingent and the people who do follow English football you'll do that's very accurate ;-)) Anyway glad there are people like me using this site. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I think SETI@home is a fanstastic idea and have been a loyal user since I found out about the site on the news. I think the project is a brilliant idea and hope that something turns up for all the hard work. The only suggestion I would make would be to use more space exploration centre's like the one in the UK to promote the idea. We only have one space centre here but you have your own stand!!
As for whether I think extraterrestrial life exists it does we found it on mars! OK that was dead and fossilised but I do beleive that life must exist out there, I can't see us being the only planet to develop life in this entire massive universe. However if we discover it will be up to us. We have trouble communicating with life on this planet so you can imagine trying to create a dialogue with an outside culuture. That said I believe that in the long term a race will come and say hello if it is just "hello, we'll come back when your ready".
Then again who is to say they will be friendly? That is an important point because I don't want to say "Hello were here" to a bunch of Sadistic Aliens, but then we have enought Sadistic people here and maybe a conflict with an extraterrestrial life form might bring this world together? Who knows, all I now is it won't be during my life time!! |
