Profile: Rodney Wealing

Personal background
I am 36 years old and from Indiana, with a wife of twelve years, and three kids. In addition I am the Technical Support Administrator for a local ISP here in Indiana.

I really don't have any hobbies, but I do like to watch Science Fiction Movies, and "Contact," was where I was first introduced to the SETI program. From that point forward, I have spent all my spare computer time here at home and at work doing work units, and really enjoy it thoroughly. I also got three of my co-workers hooked on the Seti@home program as well, and it has become a race to see who has the most work units done each week.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there is the possibility of life out there, however in my lifetime I truly doubt that any contact will be made, unless we are able to invent newer ways of transportation that allows us to go almost sub-light speed. Journeys of the magnitude we are talking about would take entirely too long by the standards and technology of today.

We should definately be looking toward the skies for answers, and be sending signals for other possible life forms to receive.

I run SETI@home because I enjoy trying to see what's out there, and also knowing that if by chance my system is the one that would ever find something... I would never probably have to work any more, and would almost cetainly have my fifteen minutes of fame.
