Personal background
I am a woman and a "futurist". Technology (especially sensible technology) is very much a part of my life, co-existing alongside numerous other personal interests, abilities and talents harmoniously.

For almost all of my 40 years in England, on this Earth, I have believed it will be technology (computer as well as basically electronic) and mathematics that will first span this chasm in our history: the question, "Is there anybody out there?" I spend much of my spare time collecting data on all manner of things interesting and important to me so my adoption of SETI@home was a logical step forward. To quote a, now, tired phrase, "It is not if, but when" with regards to connecting with galactic intelligence.

Other "hobbies" include: creating digital graphics, creating electronic books, archaeology, geology, history, literature, etc., etc.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always been fascinated with the prospect of contact with intelligence beyond Earth. Even if any external galactic life were discovered without doubt it would change all perception and "us" forever. SETI@home is another step towards realising this discovery. With the amount of radio signals flooding from Earth I would say that we have made our presence known. All that remains is a reply. One concern does haunt me: Would we want to have contact with a life-form so bent on destruction and immaturity as to reply and risk our own stability? Our own history? Alien eyes looking towards Earth must surely have pondered this for themselves. It is a regrettable conjecture to declare.
