Hey! My name is Gabor and started this whole thing just recently, when I saw the movie Contact with Jodie Foster. My computer is almost always running as I'm an obsessive downloader and collector of movies so I thought I could devote that free CPU time to such a worthy cause.
I wouldn't call my system a powerhouse...currently a PIII 750Mhz laptop...well, it's a small contribution... |

| I think SETI@home is a grand project, something like a cyber-kibutz, so many people working for a common cause not even knowing one another... that's one charm of the project, in addition to what it might reveal about our Universe... I think, what's more, I believe, what's more, I know ET exists...the universe would be such a waste for only mankind...after all, all those planets, all those possibilities for only one intelligent species? Come on now, it can't be...even so considering what we are like...worrying about credit card approvals and stuff like that... The universe cannot be dedicated to us, losers :) by the way, I love mankind, but a little self-critisism never hurts. |
