Personal background
I am a high school student from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I leaned about this project form my Astronomy teacher, B.J. Harper. When I heard about it, I figured, if I'm not using my computer for a while, why not let someone else make use of it.

Although Earth/Space Sicences, and Statistics are my hobbies, Music is my passion. I love jazz music, but I play classical, and rock music as well.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.
a. I'm at a crossroad in my life where my religious beleifs would say that ET isn't possible yet my love for Science and Stats are telling my that ET probably does exist. So, the short answer is: I have no clue.
b. If there is ET, I belive they will find us, whenever they find us intereasting enough to pursue, that is if they haven't already, and just have to spend years just trying to get here.
c. We could benefit from the diffusion of knoledge and technology, however it the little green men aren't friendly...we're in trouble.
2.
a. Its too late to send a beacon. We did that about 70 years ago when radio waves penetrated the atmosphere.
b. I think we should send them a message that apologizes for all the 50's sitcoms we've been sending them.
3.
a. I Run SETI@home for three reasons.
i. I use it for a screensaver so that when I'm not using my computer, someone else can.
ii. If ET exists, I'm glad to be a part of trying to find it faster.
iii. If ET doens't exist, I'm helping comfirm my fast fading faith.
b. I think SETI@home was an ingenious idea. Why spend years analizing data on your own computers when citizen volunteers are willing to speed the process.
c. I would like to suggest that SETI@home would put the user a little bit more in touch with the 'big picture' that their computer is helping paint. Try showing the portion of the sky that you computer is analizing data from at the current point in time. Define what the data illustrations on the computer program mean. Such as the Red to Blue, the graphing on the top, ect...
