Personal background
Got no job, but three computers. Why not let them do some work, while I sit here?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am intrigued by the fact that the SETI@home project has managed to find a way to get the computing power needed for this project. It seems to me that there would never be enough public or private funding available to the project to purchase these CPU cycles, so this allows the program to continue without that burden on the public or private sector. I wonder what other applications could benefit from this concept? Could we harness our home, school and business PCs to find cures for disease, or predict the weather?
