Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) Yes, by persistance. Benefits to discovering alien life that is advanced is possibility of gaining technology and unification of mankind. Danger if aliens are hostile or we are hostile towards aliens. Judging mankind by it's history of hate towards those who are different, if I were alien I would not interact with humans, there is nothing to gain and so much to lose. Just think if the aliens were only a few steps ahead of us technology wise or vulnerable to us, I would not interact with human kind.
2)Yes. Things that are beautiful about mankind but nothing about our technology, if hostile they'd know too much about us. Kinda like the Art of War, know your enemy.
3)To contribute to the most meaningful distrubuted computing project in my opinion.
