Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. do i think ET exsists? Yes, life isnt as random as it seems. though i dont believe we will have ET land or fly by any time soon. at best we might run into someone colony vessal. the cost of space travel is simply too large and random to promote exploration as seen in star trek.

2. should we announce ourselves? sure, its not like anything/one can do something to us because of it. there isnt a race of space locusts waiting for hapless civilisations to say "come eat me"

3. why SETI and views. I run SETI because i believe if i can help without losing anything, then im fine with that. I dont mind the minor cost of extra electricity and slightly higher chance of hardware failure caused by constant CPU use. My view on SETI is simple, i would rather see us as a people explore, and take a chance, than do nothing and learn nothing from it. Assuming we never find ET, we still have the technology and other factors created by this project as rewards. For instance, if we ever start our own space travel, we have a mighty fine set of listening satillites already in place to keep up with communication.
