Profile: Geoffrey Scott

Personal background
I'm a 31 year old Systems manager from Northern California. I have 3 daughters and they are my primary source of happiness in life. I also enjoy my car, 350z, and I am also an avid PC gamer when time permits. I like taking my kids to the movies and the park. I've always been somewhat of a kid my whole life.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm unsure whether there really is ET out there but I'm optimistic and hopeful that projects like this will help us find something else. I think as a race though we are sorely unprepared to deal with such an occurence if it were to happen in the near future. If we were to transmit any kind of signal I'd rather we asked questions as opposed to providing a history of ourselves. Most greetings start that way when you strike up a conversation so why not do the same, "Hello, How are you?". I'm glad projects like these exist. I'm not wholly sure we're concentrating on the right things by looking for wave frequencies. Should consider looking for light patterns and pulses. I'd find it strange that we assume an ET race would use a similar technology that we've developed to communicate over such long distances.
