I've always been intrested in alien worlds since I read 20,000 leagues under the sea when I was a kid. I know it happens on Earth but it seemed so alien and with all we know (or don't) about the ocean floor it could very well be Alien too. My kids see the screen saver going and ask me why I'm trying to find aliens and why would they be talking to me? I tell them that maybe one day we'll find them talking to each other or trying to contact us but they probably won'y be trying to contact just me. lol
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does ET life exist? Almost certainly, although intellgent life is another question. I love the line from "Contact" where Jodie Foster answers the same question with "If there isn't life on other planets it sure is a big waste of space." Real time conversation will probably never be possible but confirmation of any alien signal would undoubtly change how we view ourselves and could possibly change how we treat each other.
