Personal background |
I'm 26 and from London, England. I'm currently in the process of joining the Metropolitan police force. Hmm, my hobbies would have to include the fantastic www.overclockers.co.uk forums who run the greatest SETI@home team in the world. A great fun bunch of lads and lasses to talk to, and very helpful to boot. What else do I do? I am a bit of a keep fit fanatic, I love going to the gym, running, mountain biking and swimming, also play a bit of tennis and squash. I also love to go out and have fun, pubbing or clubbing, mostly both :-)
PC Specs as of 29th March 2002 (SETI@home joining day) - Abit KR7A-R, Athlon XP1800 @ 1640MHz 142fsb, 512 Megs TwinMOS DDR, Radeon 8500, Windows XP, Cable Modem. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I do think that intelligent life exists outside of our planet, and I'm not talking about those people in the space station or in space shuttles :-) Not sure if intelligent life even exists on Earth anyway :-p
I think its pretty unlikely that we will ever know about it, if aliens do exist they are more than likely so far away that if they ever look in the direction of our planet, then the images they see will be from light thats millions of years old, and they won't even know we are here. I don't know about the dangers of a possible encounter, but we've all got to go sometime and I'd be willing to risk it.
I run SETI@home to do my bit in the search, however insignificant it may be. Also I do it to join in the fun team atmosphere at the www.overclockers.co.uk forums. |
