Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Well, I think that extraterrestrial life exists - it would be stupid of us to be as arrogant to think that we are the only life force in the universe. I see no real danger to discovering extraterrestrial life, because even if we were to happen upon an "unfriendly" life force, the knowledge would be so wonderful in itself that it would not be a loss.
I think it would make sense to transmit a beacon... though I don't really know what the ideal information would be. Possibly a status-type message would make the most sense, if something were to pick it up.
I run SETI@home because it is a great idea. The search for extraterrestrial life, and the possibility that we might find it, is very exciting. Also, I admire a program that involves a group effort for something good, with no selfish motive or catch. The only suggestion I could possibly come up with is "Get more people!" :P |
