Personal background
I am a 42 year old german and i live in Detmold / Germany. I'm working as an IT-Consultant with the main object on CRM and database tools and integration software development (Java and PL/SQL).
I really like kiting with fresh air, the sun and the wind around me, but meanwhile i nearly have no time to enjoy this hobby. But on holiday in denmark i spend most of the daytime on the beach with my kites ...
So most of my free time i spend with my PC. (stupid, isn't it? my job is my hobby)
In the evening and night i enjoy a little bit of astronomy, observe the starry sky and look for the satelites and the ISS (thanks to NASA for spaceflight.nasa.gov).
Last but not least i'm (and also my wife is) a trekki. We have nearly all the Star Trek material on video and we cannot get enough of it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course i think there are some other guys outside in space. Nothing else makes sence, because the nature (or god) would never do such a waste of space and resources. I hope that we, the seti@home-users will discover them during the next years (but i think we need a few more decades to fix it).
I hope that there will be more intelligent and peaceful races out there than the humans, so that we can learn a lot.

Yes, we should say load and clear who we are and where we are (but possibly not what we do against each others).

It's a great pleasure for me to be a part of the seti@home project. At the moment i heard of it, nearly a year after the foundation, i registered and began to 'crunch' the work-units. Meanwhile i crunshed 1671 workunits with the original seti@home and switched to Seti Boinc this week.
the program is running from the moment the computer starts until shutdown. i use the command-line versions for linux-systems (my home PC) and for Windows NT (the job-notebook), because the graphical versions are too slow.

Let's find them.
Space is not the final frontier.
