Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe Extraterrestrial life exists. I think that anyone who doesn't is in denial. Space is, for all intents and purposes, infinite. Infinite = a lot. That means a lot of other worlds, a lot of other chances for life to begin, a lot of everything.

As a matter of fact, I believe that, if you can imagine it, it probably is out there, somewhere. We may never see it, but it probably exists.

I don't know about humans transmitting a beacon for others to find. I think we need to concentrate on reaching the stars first before letting the neighborhood bully know where we are. Right now we have all of our eggs in one basket and we live in a galactic shooting gallery filled with asteroids and comets. Sooner or later, mankind is going to have to leave the nest, or we're all going to die and then be forgotten. And for what?

I run seti@home to help find the Other guy before (we hope) he finds us.
