I am an amateur astronomer that is interested in photography and spectroscopy. I currently use a C9.25 with a Losmandy GM8 mount. I live in the Chicago Suburbs and drive to dark sites whenever I can. Currently I sell acoustic microscopes and obtained a bachelor's degree in physics.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I beleive that SETI is a good way to detect other lifeforms that are using electromagnetic waves for communication. However, I think that we may have some good signals already and that decoding these signals may take longer than we expect. Many many years longer.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
