Personal background
I am 45 years young and work as a systems tech @ New Mexico State University. NMSU is a Land Grant University in the desert southwest, in the United States.

I\\'m a PC and Apple hardware maintenance and repair tech for the university. I love computers and the new technologies that are being born everyday because of the advances in computing power. My wife and I have 5 of the teenage prototypes. Each one completely unique. If you don\\'t believe me, just ask any one of them. We spend most of our time attending their activities. In my spare time I sleep.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do not believe that life exists anywhere else but here on earth. I also believe that if there were life else where it would not have any problem finding us. We still have a lot to discover from right here on earth, both on the micro and macro levels. As an engineer and scientist, I realize the mathematical odds are against this belief, but I choose enlightened stubbornness, to the end. One day the stars will all fall from the sky and life, as we know it will cease. For now we study the past, experience today, and dream the future into existence.

I have been processing Seti packets since June 1999. I first started using Seti as a benchmark of raw crunching power and testing it on different machines. I still enjoy watching Seti finish processing and upload the results.

I think the Seti staff @ Berkeley has done a tremendous job of acquiring and configuring the massive amount of resources required to process these results and provide feedback. I am sure at some point in time some of it was probably held together with super glue, shoestrings, and a prayer. All the while offering us, the crunchers a unique opportunity to participate.

Thanks to you all.
