I like to think that ETI exists. My favourite comic is the Calvin and Hobbes panel stating that the surest sign that extraterrestrial intelligence exists is that it hasn't tried to contact us yet. I am happy to be a part of the SETI project.
Do we need to transmit a beacon to let other find us? We must already be doing that - the numerous signals that are spewing from our planet (radio, television, etc.) must light us up like a Christmas tree to anyone withing 75 ly or so! |
