Profile: Melanie

Personal background
My name is Melanie stott and I am from Manchester, U.K. I am 24 years of age and am, a little needless-to-say, into Astronomy. I am presently studying towards this field (physics) and one day hope to contribute to the ongoing research one day. Seti@home seemed a good place to start and I'm sure all users feel they are giving the science world a little support in some minute way- which is good. I am also a singer/songwriter and have a homebased recording studio which is where I study. It is also used for making my own astronomical observations and study of astronomy itself.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Wouldn't it be such an awful waste of space if other civilizations didn't exist.
The Drake equation tells us there are literally millions and millions of civilizations, and although just an equation, logic tells us that it has to be a truth. No doubt us humans are lucky old buggers for being here, but there seems to be enough space for luck to have been scattered a little bit further, surely.
