Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?

The reason I run SETI at home is because if there is life out there, I'd like to be one of the people partially responsible for finding it. I'd like to believe there is something out there -- that we're not completely alone in the universe; because if we are, alone -- I think we're in trouble. I guess it's kind of like looking for a superhero. I hope there's someone out there who might possibly be able to save us from ourselves. We're so destructive. I don't believe the vast majority of humans are going to become responsible beings any time soon. If something/someone is out there, maybe they could help a bit.

What are your views about the project?

I think the SETI project is probably the closest thing I'll ever get to exploring the universe. It's a way of helping while still going through the business of everyday life. If I could be out in the deserts of New Mexico volunteering on one of the projects out there... that's where i'd be.
