Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that this program is purty nifty. Its definitely a good idea to use all the spare processing power of these computers in a joint effort to try and discover extra-terrestrial life. I personally feel that we have already had extra-terrestrial life visit this planet, but long in the past, and I think that it might be worthwhile to encourage them to return. I think that we should most definitely use some sort of beacon to encourage others to find us. I really dont think the information that is sent out is pertinent unless it is in the form of a message, which is in and of itself a foolish idea. I think rather that we should take the waves that are already emitted from our atmosphere, and just make them easier to find. I am using this program because I believe it is the best chance that I have to take part in such an event.
