Personal background
Sysadmin at ARIN. Went to the College of William & Mary and doubled in CompSci and Internat'l Relations Theory.
Before that, grew up overseas as a foreign service brat, reading way too much Asimov and Heinlein and Niven to not be part of SETI@Home. :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm running Seti on my AMD Opteron 244 workstation running OpenBSD at work. At home, it's running on my 2ghz linux box, a PIII 800MHz FreeBSD server, my SUN Ultra5/333mhz OpenBSD server, and on my Athlon 2GHz WinXP gaming box.

Ingenious use of otherwise idle hardware everywhere. Makes
my collection of substantially useless hardware feel useful.
Distributed computing such as this gives one such a warm
and tingly feeling all over!
