Personal background
Not much to say really...First of the generals: I'm 18 (19 in july, but who's counting), I'm from Romania and I'm in my last year of highschool(i've got my College entry exam this summer :>)
I first started using SETI@home some time ago and then i took a rather 'longish' break (don't no why). But this thing is just to important in my point of view for me (or anyone) to miss out on, so here I am again.
I'm not much of a talker (my colegues disagree heavily with that) but I am a rather gifted listener (no arguments there) so if anyone feels like shring some info or thoughts, just let me know (my e-mail should be somewhere in this profile :> )
well, that's that....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If i didn't think ET life exists I would be using SETI@home, now would I?
Human kind has this capacity of discovering what it needs when it needs it, so think that sooner or later we'll find the lil' 'rascals'('if u need'em they will come':> )
Benefits and dangers of contact will ET Civ's? just pick up a SF book, i mean this whole problem has been debated and turned inside out so many times nobody can say which is which (let me know if i don't make any sense)
We definetively should send a message (the Voyager was a good ideea but i think it rellied to much on beings with similar sensory perception i.e.: vision, touch, hearing in order to transmit information) and we should make something that all civilizations advanced enough to use radio astronomy would comprehend (like prime numbers, or the number pi, but nothing that is relative to any scale of measurement)
I run 'the program' because I want to be part of something big (travelling circuses not included) and important, something that when succesful will benefit all of human-kind (it my sound a wee corny, but it is also true)
I think the project is a good ideea (a very good one)
No suggestions at this time
