Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI, like most space programs, is very under-funded. Public interest
in such things is far too low. I'm proud to donate CPU cycles to SETI@home,
I think it's a wounderfull idea using distributed computing in this way.

As for this project in particular, the laws of physics governing electromagnetic
radiation and propagation through space makes it unlikely that simple radio
signals are going to get here, but that in no way means it's not worth
listening. Not listening would simply be ignorant. I feel certain that one day,
either this project or another in the future, is going to reveal something in
universe that we can't even imagine. I just hope it's in my lifetime. The best
truth on the subject, is this line I've heard several times before (original
source unknown) "It would be an awefull waste of space if we're the only life in
the universe."
