Personal background |
I am a retired professor of physiology and biochemisty. Got my undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and my doctorate from the University of
Michigan. Enjoy working on my computer - which runs constantly due to Seti -
calling up 18th, 19th. and early 20th centuries books which I copy and then
hand bind (all with expired copyrights, of course). Am also into cooking and
finding new recipes and cookware on the Internet. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I doubt that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the Universe (I'm not sure
it exists on Earth, for that matter). I base this simply on a biologist's notion of what it takes to create life (especially advanced forms) and the seeming uniqueness of this planet-geologically, positionally, atmospherically, etc.
However, I run Seti because, doubts or not, it is better to try and find out, rather than do nothing at all. A few million people using their home or work computers to aid in this search seems great (in view of the present scarcity of
funds for research. |
