I run SETI@Home in part because it's fun to be even a tiny a part of such an immense project. I am not so arrogant as to believe that earth is the only populated planet in the universe or that humans are the only intelligent species. Eventually we will make contact with others and if we can identify more advanced civilizations through monitoring radio frequency reception here on earth it can only hasten the time when we reach out to them in person.
I couldn't begin to tell the people who run SETI or BOINC how to do what they do or how to improve it. I do think expanding the program to include other ways of utilizing computer idle time will be beneficial. |
