Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, it has to exist - just look at the mathematics involved. We can be the only life. Really depends on the physics. We might discover at anytime the 'proof', long distance one way communications. The distances are just too great. Unless we can find something in physics to handle the distances involved we will never have true contact. So, we think the risks of danger are very very very small ... as are the chances of any beneifts in a thousand lifetimes ...

Yes, we would like other too. We should send social information about the human race, our history and some basic mathematics information. Perhaps ask if anyone out there has a one page proof of Fermat's theorem.

We run it because it makes some use of our PC's. We spent enough money on them, they should do some work while we are at work ...
