Profile: Maquis

Personal background
Living in Denmark, far away from the scenes of the world, Science Fiction has always been a part of my life. And from that interest forthcoming, the interest in the exploration of our universe.

I immensely enjoy reading all kinds of books, from ancient history references, over Shakespeare to the modern day authors like Tom Clancy or Stephen Coonts.

I was born in 1971, am single, and work the nightshift at a factory.

My online life began way before the internet, when you used 1200 kbps modems to phone BBS systems.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that in a universe as huge as the one we live in, the existence of life, in some form, other than here on earth is of no question.
we've only begun exploring the universe, and though we think we know much,
our combined knowledge is like a grain of sand in the deserts.
Immensely small.

I am unsure if we should send out a beacon, on one hand, the chance that we would meet extraterrestrial life in my lifetime is intrigueing, still, are we ready for it?

The reasons I use SETI@home are many, one of them is, that even though I know I will never attain any "recognition" amongst the minds that truly understand what we know here about the universe, I still want to be a part of the process.
SETI@home is I think also the laymans tool, I think we all have that little spark inside us... "what if my computer was to detect it?"
