Personal background
I am a 23 year old Computer Engineer in Alexnadria, VA. Recently graduated from Virgnia Tech with a Computer Engineering degree, I am lving and working in Alexandria. I have a large interest in computers and near all things techincal. As a result, I have several computers at home in various states of completeness, but almost all running Seti@home.

I also have a large, although mostly background, interest in the stars and beyond, hence the Seti@home was an excellent use for the extraneous processor power sitting in my home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it is near inevitable that life external to Earth exists. The numbers are just too great for it to be otherwise, logically. I am not sure how humans will discover it, but any possible way should be fostered, I beleive. Humankind is driven by discovery and exploration, and this would only foster that drive.

I think it is a very interesting and intelligent way to use all the extra processor cycles left idle out there to complete a task that would otherwise be left undone.

I am not sure we ever will retreive information from an alien society by the same reasons I think those societies exist somewhere: The numbers are so great. Distances, time, medium of communication, etc. are against us in finding extraterrestial life.

However, there is always a chance, and I am proud to contribute to that search.
