Personal background
37 YO Instructional Developer...I work @ a University where I program web-based instructional material. Have worked a varied number of careers in my life: ski instructor, chemistry teacher, microbiologist, chemist, middleschool math/science/health teacher, truck driver trainer (yes, those 18-wheelers!), cell biologist, photographer, physical education teacher, informational technology teacher....I love a new challenge!

I love to have fun outside: hiking and road/Mt.biking, and any thing to do with water in the spring summer and fall(swimming, sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking), and in the winter (cross-country skiing, telemark skiing, alpine skiing, snowshoeing).

I run SETI on my home machines (now down to 4!) and had it running on as many as a couple of dozen machines
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe! I believe they will let themselves be found once we are ready to handle the concept (think prime directive). It will blow our concept of the universe out of the water!

I don't think sending the beacon is a bad thing, it lets them know where we are technologically. I feel a nice cross section of our music, our history, and samples of our technology will all be great additions to any beacon signal we would send.

I think the SETI project is great...efficient use of technology...well maybe not, I keep the computer on more than I would otherwise because of SETI, but with the monitor off, it's not using much energy and it's being used for a great reason!
