Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. It just doesn't make sense that there isn't other intelligent life out there. If we, specifically this project, discover other life, great. But, realistically, I think it's us that'll be discovered, by them. The technological benefits to us would be great and I really don’t see any downside.

2. The whole earth is essentially a beacon now with all of our radio transmissions. If we discovered a method to more speedily broadcast something specific, then, by all means make it of a mathematical nature. Best case of being interpreted correctly and intelligently.

3. It’s some small way I feel that I can advance the cause of science. After all, managing financial software projects doesn’t really seem to count in the big picture of everything.
