Personal background
Greetings from Sussex, Wisconsin, USA. I am 48 years old, working full time as machine setup at a multinational corporation in Milwaukee. At the present time my most time consuming hobby is toying with and learning more about computers. I think many of you can relate just how addicting this can be. SETI fits nicely into this as it gives me a reason to build ever faster and better machines and I try to put them to good use here. Other hobbies include home repair, working on cars, fishing (when I can find time), reading, and dreaming of what I want to be when I grow up.
I think the other people doing SETI and answering the help board here are some of the best people there are. We all like the bragging rights but many of us would never have gotten this far if it was not for others always offering help and suggestions. Thanks again.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I feel there really is other life in the universe. If the search on Mars turns up even 1 microbe I think we will be on our way to looking deeper into space for more life forms. If we can find other life out there maybe we can get past all the minor bickering we do as people of this planet. The implications of finding other life would give all of us as a people a good reason to better ourselves and to realize just how small we are.
Seti is doing a fine job but it wouldn't hurt to have the governments of this planet helping more than they are with a little financing.
