Personal background
I am A computer tech. from Charlotte, N.C. I have worked with computers for 15 years now. I would have to say I spend probably 85% of my time on a computer. I am married. My wife has no clue how to use a computer and she doesn't want to learn how to use them. I have tried many times to get her to just sit and play with the computer. She is too afraid she will break it. I have told her no matter what she does too the computer I could fix it, so don't worry about breaking it, but she will not touch it. I don't know what she is going to do when everything is controlled by computers. That day is approaching rapidly.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think there is life on distant worlds but, In order for us to discover them we would have to develop a faster way to travel in space. As of now, It would take more than a lifetime to even get to the nearest galaxy. We could develop a spacecraft that would be large enough for us to send a large group of people to explore space. It would have to be like a city in the sky. The people would have to be from all walks of life just to support themselves.

My thoughts on should we send a signal into space or not, I would have to think that the life on other worlds would communicate in different ways, so they would not hear us and we would not hear them. Unless we travel to them or they travel to us.

About seti@home, I don't think we will ever find life on another planet by looking for a signal it the sky. But I think the program will help us understand how the universe works.
