I think existence of extraterrestrial life is a possibility. I am not sure that if it were to exist, it would be sentient. I think that it would be an incredible coincidence that a sentient lifeform able to emit signals (of any nature perceivable by us) would be emitting signals at the precise time when we are looking for these signals. I am even less sure that if a sentient life form exists satisfying the previous conditions, it is within reach of us.
But I nethertheless think the Seti project is interesting, in that it implies the collaboration of many people, by means of their computers. I think Seti set the mark for future large scale computational projects. |
