Personal background
Since I was a small child I was always interested in space travel and exploration. I always wanted a telescope but for some reason Santa was never able to come through. I took many trips to the local planetarium.
When I got older and joined the Navy I had the oppertunity to become a member of the medical support team for the space shuttle. The last mission I participated on was Challanger.

Well now I'm 40 and this past christmas I finally go that telescope. Not only am I in heaven but I now have my two daughters, my wife and even my neighbors hooked to looking up. One neignbor even told me I made his day for just the glimpse of saturn and it's rings.

I love it.....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To think that we were the only intelligent life would be extremely arrogant. I feel quite confident that there are others far away and maybe even close that are doing the same thing we are by sending signals out into space hoping for someone else to hear.
