Personal background
I'm from the good 'ol USA.

I'm a normal, everyday believer in God, the Constitution of the United States and individual choice.

I believe that there's too much opportunity for wonder and creativity in existence to all be concentrated on one small planet.

How could we be the only life in the universe? Look around - life is everywhere... from the coldest to the hottest extremes on this planet, life exists everywhere. Now go outside on a clear summer night and look up... it's there, too.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Part of me hopes we would never find ETI through something as "old-fashioned" as radio waves. I personally am hoping that we receive the "invitation" to join the elite club once we get our s#$% together here, and that we are one of thousands of races in a constant state of evolution.

Then there's the Doug Adams-ish views of most advanced lifeforms being aggressive (how else would they have fought their way out of the muck millions of years ahead of us?) that says that any visitors we receive are simply looking for either dessert or making way for a new "galactic strip mall"...

Either way, the clock cycles are free.
