Personal background
I am a 16 year old boy from Wales, UK. I live the standard, rather boring life of a normal College student, taking a BTEC National Diploma course. (It's all too business-ey for me, though.)
I am very interested in technology and space travel.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extra-terrestrial life exists. Life evolved on this planet with just water, oxygen and sunlight (some theorys say the Moon's pull helped), and it's more than likely that there's at least 1 other planet amongst the billions that contains life. Even if the planet is not like Earth, (say Europa or Titan), Life could just as well evolve there like it appeared in some hostile ocean floor back on Earth. [br][br]
I think extra-terrestrial life will be found within our solar system (albeit in the microbe form) within the next 20-40 years. Creationists will be upset, but it will give a major boost to the space program.[br] I think the discovery of an extra-terrestrial intelligence will be made by us listening to it, and I think it might be an ancient signal that has been traveling for a while, by a long gone/changed civilization. [br][br]
I think humans should transmit a beacon into space. We should send information about our planet, the species there, and what we know about science and the universe so far. I don't think we need to send many different examples of our culture on Earth, as there are far more important things on this planet that E.T. intelligence might want to know.
