Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
Just the possibility of being able to contribute to the "proof" that there is life outside of our little globe gives me the motivation to contribute. Kind of like the universal Lotto. It would be great if we had more tickets though... more funding and facilities to receive and process data from a wider range of sources.
If I haven't been clear, I think it's very worthwhile.

Thoughts about ETI
In my opinion there is no doubt that ET's are out there. The lotto has worse odds, and people still win on a regular basis. Of course, with our present technology and feasability of the studies, our odds of finding them can only get better. Eventually, we will hit the jackpot; just remember, ya can't win if you don't play. The potential benefits make trying a necessity and in my opinion outweigh the possible dangers. We could gain new technology and understanding of the universe. I believe that anyone trying to communicate with another world would have similar interests and would NOT be trying to destroy or conquer others.
