Profile: Makoto

Personal background
My name is Makoto, and I was originally born in Japan, but have lived in Orlando, Florida for the majority of my life. I am currently 21 years old, and my hobbies would be computers and cars.

I drive a 1997 black Pontiac TransAm convertible, and am a big fan of the Firebirds and TransAms.

I am the webmaster for the NASCAR Touring Series, and spend too much time on the computer.

I want to try to outdo everyone and send in the most work units for Seti, I am a very competitive person. I like having the fastest car, fastest computer, etc... etc...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I would not find it hard to believe that there is extraterrestrial life out there. If you think about it, there are many many stars out there, each star could have several planets around it. I would imagine there has got to be another planet out there, in a different solar system, that can sustain life.

If we ever met an extraterrestrial, I think it could be beneficial. Imagine what kind of different thoughts, ideas, music, technologies that another world would have. We'd have so much to learn. I already find it interesting to learn about different cultures, but another life form would be even more interesting. This could be dangerous as well if the extraterrestials were hostile, or if they carried a virus of some sort that was safe to them, but deadly to humans.

I think we should setup a beacon to transmit signals, but as far as sending information goes, I don't think any info should be sent. Our info would be interpreted differently to extraterrestrials. I am certain they do not speak our language.

I am running SETI@home to aid in the search for extraterrestrials, and it looks kewl too :). Also, I want to have the highest data units record.
