I think there is extraterrestrian life, but I don't think we will discover it while there will be human beings on earth. And even if we found them, I don't believe they would still exist when we find them. So I thiink there is no danger about that.
Yes, we should send beacon for others to find us, because as we'd love to find others, there will probably be someone, somewhere, sometimes, who wouls like to find us.
