Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yeah.
They will discover us..we're too egotistical and self-centered to recognise intelligence in other species.
Danger? of course there's danger....there are monsters in space...a race of beings that devotes itself to creating new ways of destroying life. Beings who must be suicidal because they destroy the planet they inhabit. Yeah there are monsters in space....us.

2. If at all we trasmit a beacon...I suggest we lie through our collective teeth. What intelligent species is going to attribute intelligence to us if we tell them the truth about ourselves.

3. I want to find another planet...I want to go there. And at the rate humans develop technology...space/ftl travel will never happen in my life-time. Aliens are my only hope of reaching the stars.

Suggestion: If we ever transmit a beacon announcing our existence..I suggest we do it from another planet in the solar system...Mars or even better.. Pluto. The reasons should be obvious.
