Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. ET life very probably exists. When will humans discover it? Do not know. Benefits: understanding evolution, structure of life, farther frontiers; if intelligent life: learning, sharing. Dangers: mostly the reaction of people; if intelligent life: do not know. Anything can happen.

2. I think we are transmitting enough as it is. If any intelligent beings are there within communicating range, they will find us.

3. Curiosity. Encouraging a project uniting so many people worldwide to a common goal. Encouraging a project about something controversial, and/but scientific. Hoping to find a signal of intelligent communication. Views about the project: as much as I like to think that we may find some trace soon, I wonder how people would react (fear, religion, instability, etc.). Overall though, it is a wonderful initiative, creative idea, that has some benefits already regarding advances in computer science. The project should be encouraged. Suggestions: more publicity. Many people I know were not aware of its existence. And these people possess computers... Adding a fun game related to the project to a «parallel» site could be appealing. We often play in the lab... :-)
