1) I think its very stupid to look up in the sky, see all this space, all these galaxies and solar systems and beleive that we are alone! If we look closely to many ancient civilizations (Ancient Greece, Messopotamians, Egyptians, Central Americans) we will see the same thing! People coming from nowhere or from the "ocean", willing to learn the humans of these days the secrets of "life"!
Like the 12gods in ancient greece, Viracotsa in central America and many more! This is not a truth that we should overlook! The benefits of a "First Contact" will be enormous because if they can travel since here, imagine other things that can learn us! For the same reason i dont think they are hostile! Danger i think exists ONLY in the heart of the close minded (like church people) because their hol beleive system will be proven false! So we understand why church (ecpessialy Vatican) is against trips in space and is sabotazing the most trips to Mars!
2) Yes of course they should! They should have inside samples of our languages, greetings, and the mathematics and physic we understand so far! The first is to understand a litle bit from us and the second to see that we understand a bit from the "universal language"
3)I dont know if we find ET this way, but i know that is good to try
My suggestion (and big dream) is for us, humans, stop being "stupid and cannibals"! If we manage to stop killing our selves and built a common civilization, stop being "head hunters" to any alien that may arrive here, than i am sure that we dont need seti! They will have a reason to come to us!
If u were an alien, would u go to a planet that live "head hunters"? As simple as that!-)
