Personal background
The fire of my scientific curiosity and learning since the age of about 16 to my present age of 39 came from two people: Carl Sagan and Mrs. Harriett Smith.

I was a teen that came stumbling in from outside one evening, and managed to catch the beginning of an episode of Nova in which Carl Sagan hosted "The life and Death of a Star". I watched in captivated awe, and continue to do so to this day. May you rest in peace Mr. Sagan, knowing you touched at least one of us.

My science teacher, Mrs. Smith, sparked in me the curiosity and awe that nature itself contains. She encouraged and enjoyed exploring new avenues of inquisition by a sassy yet motivated and intelligent group of kids.

I've been hooked ever since.....
