Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It would be quite vain to think we are the only form of intelligent life in the multiverse, though I do believe most if not all UFO sightings are fake.
I feel that we will discover extraterrestrial life only when they decide to visit us. The benefits are quite obvious, technology advancement, friendship. The dangers are also quite obvious as most people I feel will not accept aliens and will ultimatly ruin it for the rest of us by showing our ignorance and possible getting us all killed (Earth would be nice for colonization esp. if we prove to be mere parasites with the need for extermination)
We should wait to transmit a beacon until we are all ready to face these dangers. as for the seti@home project I think its wonderful, however we need more options. Our greater concern is the threat of large solid objects on a course to Earth (asteroids and such). My suggestion is either an extention of the data crunching to include this type of scan or a new project all together for this reason.
