Personal background
I live by the Old River Nene in March, Cambridgeshire and work at RAF Wyton 20 miles to the south. I head a small team that provides 1st line IT support to the 250-300 staff of the Harrier Integrated Project Team; the team that supplies logistical support to the Harrier aircraft.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
First heard about SETI@home on R4 in 1999 & downloaded the application then because I felt it would be great to be a part of this phenominal programme. Since then I've replaced my PC and hadn't remembered to download the SETI@home application again - until I heard it mentioned on Radio 4. If it wasn't for the BBC! So here I am again, still keen to be a part of SETI@home; this time I plan to publicise it on the intranet at work and I've created a group which I hope colleagues will sign up to!

I do believe there is extra-terrestrial life but don't believe it will be found in my lifetime. However, if there is evidence in the next 30-40 years of attempts by extra-terrestrials to contact earth I think I would be excited but the excitement would be tempered by concern that they may not be contacting us for peaceful reasons. Since generally we expect of others what we are capable of ourselves it doesn't say a lot for my faith in the human race does it!
