Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists. Humanity is in the mass is not ready for such a discovery. Humanity is happy moping about daily life, doing the daily chores, and living the good life. Discovery, development and communication with extraterrestrial life would almost instantly contradict religions and cause an uprise and destabalize society. However, there are a large handful of those of us out there who continue to look for, and maybe even meet extraterrestrials. Continued exploration of space will aid in our scope of vision.

Humans should transmit a beacon for others to find. Perhaps it won't be found until long after the human race is extinct, and the earth is dead or worse destroyed. But somehow, some way we should send a beacon with our way of life recorded on it. We should explain how email works to. Maybe they'll send us something!

I run SETI@home because I believe. I believe in life, science, hope, and ability. I think the project is rather genius. It's like having a huge science project due, and having the world do the grunt work for you. And besides, I think the Screen Saver it really neat looking.
