Personal background
Hallo out there :)
To say it short! My name is Torben Nielsen. I took the first delightful breath on a spring morning of 75. I’m born in Denmark, where I still live. I work as a programmer, designing applications used in the graphical industry. I have always believed that we are not alone. Even though I don’t remember where or how I joint the SETI@home project, being so long ago, I do know the reason why.

Well That it for now, I edit this when I find something more to say :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Like all other SETI@home user I have a reason for being here. I believe in the very though that the SETI program is build upon. If the Earth was the only planet in the great cosmos able to support life, what’s up with all the space then? Wouldn’t that be a totally vast of space? So of course ET is out there, it’s just a matter of time before we receive what we all are looking for.

The benefits of such a contact could be many. Besides answering the greatest question of them all: Are we alone? The amount of knowledge and technology that might come available could make us able of exploring the deep space.

The dangers, if any, don’t come from ET. Why should the contact a civilization so far away merely to perform an act of war? The only danger I see is the human mind. Are we ready to know that we are not alone? Personally I don’t think so. The human mind is build to destroy, but one day we might find somebody smarter to teach us otherwise. And if we are lucky they’ll contact us before we destroy ourselves.

Though we had already sent a beacon! Aren’t we transmitting every day through TV and radio?
But if we were to transmit a dedicated beacon, I have no idea what it should include. The first question one has to ask is: “What is intelligence?” What would make sense to somebody or something that doesn’t know us and might see the world in a totally different perspective? But it could be a sequence pointing out our location in cosmos.
